[A slightly familiar, horned face came on in a message to Asuka. She looked embarrassed. Yeah, nobody had complete control over themselves in these situations, but that didn't mean she couldn't apologize to a few people.

At least it had just been draining. She'd gotten charmed by another friend.]

Hey... Asuka, right? Thought maybe I should apologize and check in, for earlier.

[It has sucked to have had her arm turned into a bloody, scabby mess, but it could have been worse had a few kind strangers not stepped in to stop a bad situation from becoming a horrible one.

And her Asuka's face reflects this fact, though stoic as ever, she as least looks a tiny bit relieved that things had worked out in the end.]

Eh, it seems the thing to do. I'll be doing plenty of those this week, and honestly I'm just glad they're these kinds of apologies. Could've been a lot worse. "Ooops, hey, sorry I killed you there." Great conversation starter, trust me.

I've been better. Just a few days ago, when everyone's powers were apparently acting up, I pricked my hand, and then my whole arm scabbed over, it was awful.

That and I'm still not used to this cold, or just how many people there are here.

[Samantha sent a message on to Asuka to meet her today at Folkvang, complete with directions. It came on a card she'd slipped underneath her new friend's door, hand-written instead of over the network. There was a little bit of a sweet smell to it and the press of lipstick.

It was a little token she'd read in a book somewhere. This was supposed to be her first date, a proper date. Samantha could at least try to be romantic.

So, by the time that Asuka arrived at Folkvang, she'd find Samantha outside the door. She was wearing a heavy coat against the chill in the air, but more one of those that you wore over dresses instead of her usual heavy parka. Her hair was tied back behind her hair and she was in flats instead of boots. And did she have a little bit of makeup on?]

411 - Action

[The sight of Samantha's lipstick stained gift finally brought to the forefront of her just mind what she had agreed to. Being a first-timer to the world of dating She really had no idea what she was going to wear, or even say once she found herself in the field.

But, after calming herself, she managed to pick something that simply fit her usual style, a black skirt and a freshly cleaned shirt, and tossed the same old jacket she wore everyday over it all. She'd been wearing it for years and this point, and felt a little safer wrapped in its warm embrace.

Finally out the door, she arrives for the date looking a bit less sour and far more nervous then Samantha had likely seen her in the past.]

[They were both nervous. Samantha was, probably, one of the less conscious or even caring of what people thought about her, but she always felt a little nervous when things got past 'asking' to actually going out with someone. But, when she saw Asuka coming up, she colored a little and calmed. Maybe she'd overdone it with makeup. It wasn't like Asuka had been here long enough to get a big wardrobe was it?

Smiling over at her, she took a step in close to brush a finger along the edges of her jacket and leaned, aiming a kiss for the girl's cheek, on the side with her good eye. Coming in that close, Asuka could see that Sam's right eye had a slightly milky look. The peripheral vision was shot there since her last death.]

Shinji is so sorry, Asuka. He really is.

It's been a handful, recently. Getting explained time-loops by Kaworu. Also getting explained that you arrived, but you might not be the same Asuka he knows. An old friend returning to Asgard but doesn't remember him. The month's events were a little chaotic, too. (who knew powers could backfire?!)

Leave it to Shinji to need a bit to find courage to finally get a hold of you. Even if it means probably getting yelled at, he's willing to deal with it.]

[Asuka had thought about contacting Shinji several times herself, but every time she did the same painful memories came to mind, and immediately quashed any attempt to reach out to her old acquaintance.

But now that he had contacted her, which surprised the red-head to no end, Asuka had far less excuses to avoid Shinji.]

[And judging by what he was told, it's understandable. Sort of. Considering how he last remembered Asuka (comatose in a hospital bed), he was afraid to initiate contact.

She couldn't help him. And to Asuka, he did not help her?

What did he want...? To see you, hear from you, of course. Even if you're not Sohryu, you're Asuka and he's missed you. He nervously swallows before replying.]

450, Late, Video

[Samantha had managed to conceal the pain when she'd spoken to Father McCulhay, but she'd been in agony through most of the day, to the point of cold sweats. Only in the last few hours had it begun to fade, slipping back into more of an ongoing dull ache. It was the price she paid for keeping 'that part' in check. The runes flared up and she was left seeing white from all of the pain.

As it started to reach bearable levels, late at night, she called Asuka up. She'd heard from most of those she cared about lately, but she wanted to check in with Asuka too, little knowing that by dawn she'd disappear for a few days...]

[When Asuka answered she looked far worse for wear then usual. And upon closer inspection of such elements as Asuka's messy hair and the many dark circles that ringed her one good eye, it was readily apparent that the young pilot hadn't slept in quite sometime.]

[Samantha sighed when she saw Asuka. She looked like hell too. God, they were a pair. She looked briefly a bit sympathetic before closing her eyes and nodding, trying to comb her hair into place.]

Ugh. Ok, my hangover's mostly gone.

[She didn't sound happy, not yet, but that was going to be a while. She'd gotten her head on straight again, but they'd been together for almost a full year in this place. Losing him was a blow to the gut. Rubbing her forehead, she sighed.]

You said anything, right? I'm taking you out on a date date. Real couples have dates, after all.

[Hearing those words almost sent Asuka into a panic. Even though she had been out plenty of times with Samantha before, something about her actually putting the word "date", and couple for that matter, to one of their little meetups awakened in Asuka the same sort of nervousness she had felt back when she was crushing on Shinji.

In other words, it made the whole thing feel more "real."]

I did say anything... [Asuka mumbled in a manner suggesting she was a bit annoyed with herself for using that particular phrasing.] Fine, you got me. Just name something and we'll do it.

504 Evening, Action

[It's about two hours before curfew when Samantha stops by. She knows that if she has to go back home past curfew, she has her rune for getting home sneakily, so she's prepared to do just that. However, the red-head's got a small basket full of raspberries, freshly coming to ripeness in town. She'd already gotten fresh myrtle for the shop. But, this wasn't for medicinals.

Besides, she'd wanted to see Asuka since their date. They'd probably still had a bit to talk about to boot. Knocking at Asuka's door, she waited, hopeful that she hadn't missed her.]

[Asuka answered the door with a yawn, wondering just who had the come calling this late. She was ready to tell off who ever lay on the other side of the door, kicking them out so she could go back to resting.

But upon seeing Samantha, all of that changed. She could come by anytime she wanted as far as Asuka was concerned.]

Oh, hey. Come on in.

[The voice on the other side sounded kind of on the tired side.]

I heard you guys had some trouble while we were gone. You home yet, or still out with the others helping out?

[She'd waited a day to call Asuka and hung out at Freya house. She didn't want her girlfriend to know she'd arrived a day early because she was dead. She figured that it'd come out, but she'd been in a bit of a state the day before. Better today than then.]

I just got home, it was a mess out there but I think things should be better

[As "better" as they could be in a place like Asgard, any. Asuka herself was fine, but there was a bit of notice when someone like Samantha sounded weary.]

[She was a little late getting back from Utgard. Supplies had to be stowed. When she'd managed to get her way into the house, Samantha hung her coat by the door and proceeded to lock up, sighing to herself.]

That visit should not have been half as exhausting as it was. It really shouldn't.

[Asuka spoke mostly in jest as she greeted Samantha. But a part of her did worry about these sort of things from time to time.]

[Long time no see, Asuka! Here's a somewhat-familar face poking his sorry face in again after their last conversation... Sorry about that. However, he is getting better at this trying-to-contact his-friends more.]

[Before answering Asuka sighed a bit and shook her head. Why did the brat bother to contact her now after disappearing for so long? It only brought to her head thoughts like those the last time she had met her Shinji back home, a boy who's concern was spotty at best.]
