[A slightly familiar, horned face came on in a message to Asuka. She looked embarrassed. Yeah, nobody had complete control over themselves in these situations, but that didn't mean she couldn't apologize to a few people.

At least it had just been draining. She'd gotten charmed by another friend.]

Hey... Asuka, right? Thought maybe I should apologize and check in, for earlier.

[It has sucked to have had her arm turned into a bloody, scabby mess, but it could have been worse had a few kind strangers not stepped in to stop a bad situation from becoming a horrible one.

And her Asuka's face reflects this fact, though stoic as ever, she as least looks a tiny bit relieved that things had worked out in the end.]

Eh, it seems the thing to do. I'll be doing plenty of those this week, and honestly I'm just glad they're these kinds of apologies. Could've been a lot worse. "Ooops, hey, sorry I killed you there." Great conversation starter, trust me.

[She coughed, her rasp coming through a little as she laughed. God, this place sometimes.]

Besides, it's an excuse to offer an apology drink. You a drinker?

[That was just how things worked where Asuka was from, as long as you survived the day, you could chalk anything up as a success.]

There's not a lot to drink back home, so not really. But I wouldn't mind it.

[Asuka smirked a little, she liked being treated like an adult. Even if it just meant being invited to drink herself silly for the night.]

[She wasn't going to turn down free drinks, after all she didn't know many people here and it maybe a way to make a few friends.]

[She smirked.] You catch on quick. [The directions came over easily enough and she nodded once.]

I'll meet you over there in about an hour maybe. Got a couple things to finish up.

[At the appointed time, she was easy to find. The place she'd picked was a dive in Loki district, not far between where she lived and her shop. It definitely was the cheaper sort. She was leaned up against the wall, finishing up one of those black clove cigarettes of hers.]

[Asuka arrived at the bar dressed in the same jacket and hat she had been wearing when she first arrived, and completed the outfit with a far more normal set of clothing then that others may have seen her in a few days before.

Upon spying Samantha from a short while away, Asuka waves before approaching.]

[She caught sight of the jacket and smirked again when Asuka came up closer. There was a flicker of ash towards the ground and the ember that lit her face up in the evening before she blew a trail of smoke up into the air over them.]

Heh, when I saw the jacket, I almost half expected to see you in that skin-tight outfit again.

[She dropped her cigarette down and tamped it out before opening the door and heading into the bar ahead of Asuka. The place was definitely old, cramped and smelled of smoke and lost hopes pissed away into beer, though it still had a bit of a rustic feel to it and the staff didn't look half as hopeless as some of the patrons. She was making her way straight for one of the booths.]

I've been better. Just a few days ago, when everyone's powers were apparently acting up, I pricked my hand, and then my whole arm scabbed over, it was awful.

That and I'm still not used to this cold, or just how many people there are here.

Not going to happen, not now that I've got some real clothes anyway.

[Asuka followed behind Samantha, looking around the bar's environs as she did. It was a strange sight for a girl who had never really experienced anything in the way of a normal youth, thus rendering her a charmed by even things like this.]

I'm trying...but between the my powers backfiring and trying to get used to things like all this cold, it's been rough.

Really? Too bad. It made your legs look nice. Maybe a little too skin tight, but you do have the hips to pull it off.

[She nodded and grabbed a spot with a view of the whole room, wedging herself into the corner and looking across the table at Asuka. One hand rested on the wood and she sighed.]

There's no such thing as a 'good time' to show up here anymore. The war's ramping up, which makes everything more serious. The learning curve's getting steep.

I'm fine, a girl named Samantha was nice enough to drag me to the hospital so I could rest for awhile.

[There was also the whole energy drain thing, but she decided to lave that part out.]

I've gotten some clothes to replace my plugsuit, but I don't think I'll ever get used to winter actually being a thing here.

Thanks, I generally like to think that I'm a fairly attractive person. But also think that whoever designed the plugsuits had to be some kind of pervert, I mean who else would come up like a design like that?

[Asuka laughs lightly, she was beginning to loosen up a little bit.]

It figures I'd be drafted into another war. [She sighs.] Sometimes it even feels like that is all I was born to do.

Heh, you are pretty damned good looking, eyepatch and all. [She leaned forward very slightly, motioning the server over. She'd let Asuka order whatever, but Vodka and club soda was her choice for tonight.] But you're right. That thing... what kind of person designs something like that for a pilot's suit?

[The next comment just got a laugh out of her, followed by a sad shake of her head.] And you and me both. You came from a war? Me, I came from playing vigilante for who knows how long against costumed freaks. Really doesn't feel that different here.

If I didn't know any better, I'd think that you were hitting on me. [She laughs a small fit once more before turning to the server and ordering something with a rather large amount of fruit in it.] I really don't know though, it was probably someone in the science or engineering department who got off on staring at teenagers in insanely tight clothing.

As for me, I've been a pilot since I was fourteen. First the fight was against these huge alien monsters we called "Angels" but one day some idiot managed to pretty much cause the end of the world, so now me and a bunch of other people are fighting some other idiots who are pretty keen on repeating that same event all over again.

Maybe I am a little. [She wasn't trying too hard just yet, but Asuka had given her a perfectly good opportunity, so she could at least get a feel for if there was any room to try.] And believe me. I've seen the world almost end so many times that...

Wait... aliens named ... [She rubbed her head.] Do you know a guy named Kaworu and a kid named Shinji?

Small world, Shinji is a pilot just like I am. As for Kaworu, I've only met him recently.

[Yeah, Samantha wasn't really that good at this, so sometimes, she preferred direct. She chuckled at that response and shrugged.] First time for everything, I guess? Don't read too much into it.

[The glass came down in front of her and she sipped.]

I've talked a lot with Kaworu. I have an... idea about what you're talking about. It was pretty fucked up, honestly. Makes my crap look pretty normal. Take the vacation saving your world and save this one. I think it might actually be better here.

I'll admit my world kind of sucks, and there probably isn't anyway to fix it either. But I'll still keep on fighting to make sure things don't get any worse then they already are, and I'll probably do the same thing here.

[She takes a long drink before managing to sweep away all the talk of war and other unpleasant things.]

But hey, let's forget about all that stuff and just have fun for awhile.
