[Asuka nodded in agreement as she finished the last of her pasta with a loud slurp.]
So where did you want to go when we're done here? I still want to show you my eye, but I also don't really anyone else to see it either... so my place maybe?
That depends on how long you want to stay. [She looked up from her steak quietly for a second. Funny, her tail might have been winding its way around someone's ankle again.] I can only really be at your place for an hour or two before it feels like Baldr's staring at my back.
You can pay for the next date if you want. Pick wherever you want.
[As soon as they were back out in the faint chill of the evening, she checked the boot she'd slipped back on and reached her arm out for Asuka's, beginning to head back towards Loki.]

[Asuka took firm hold of Samantha's arm, holding on as if her life depended on it. She knew Samantha wasn't going anywhere, but losing most of the people she ever care for in life had made the Eva pilot more then a little paranoid about things.]
Yup, but I'm going to warn you now, it is not pretty.
Don't worry about that. [She shrugged, half imagining that it was an empty socket or sewn shut.] I think you should know by now that I've got a pretty stern stomach. You're not going to scare me away.
Guy's name was Deadboy. [She grunted sourly.] Total prick. We ended up on other sides of a fight between costumed freaks with powers and he had a scythe from hell. It could sever the connection of the soul to the body. A way to 'reap' them to hell once and for all. He caught my wings with that thing, and my dad couldn't bring them back.
The joke of it all was it wasn't even some great rivalry or him hunting me down. We ran into each other on accident, and I just wanted to get away from the prig. I had things I needed to do. Their fight was a waste of everyone's time.
[Asuka huffed. What more could she really say? Samantha's world was just as alien to her as the mess of Angels and Eva would have been to the demon girl.]
I think I've told you how I lost my eye before. Like an idiot I volunteered to take Ayanami's place as the test pilot of a new Eva. But it turns out the thing had been infected by a parasitic Eva, so the moment it started up the Angel took control.
NERV dispatched Eva 01, that's the brat's Eva, to fight the thing. I don't know how it happened, but 01 went berserk and ripped my Eva to pieces then tried bit the entry plug in half. If the thing's teeth had been a few feet to close it would have killed me, but I got lucky and survived with just a contaminated eye to show for my stupidity.
So... it's still in there. [She looked at her as she turned down the street, her apartment complex around the corner from where they were. Her hand reached over and towards the cheek, brushing under the eyepatch as she looked at her carefully for a minute.]
[Asuka blushed and pulled back a bit as Samantha's hand brushed against her face]
It's fine for now, they out some kind of seal on it to prevent the Angel contamination from spreading to the rest of my body. You'll know it when you see it.
And here, it isn't getting any worse obviously. Still ... I hope that you get this dealt with. No wonder you've got issues with him.
[Seeing her shy away, Samantha retracted her hand for a second and started to head over towards the door, pulling out her keys. She closed her eyes and breathed in for a moment. She wouldn't start when she saw the eye, nope...
But then again, to show those scars, she was going to need to take off more than just an eyepatch.]
[Samantha paused inside once the door was locked and reached up to the straps holding on her dress. She breathed in and turned around for her, pulling her hair up and out of the way.]
You can look first if you want. Touch even. The bones are still there, inside. Makes it kind of a pain to massage.
[She wanted it to be comfortable for her, and if she was nervous about her eye, why not deal with her nerves first, give her a second?]
<small<[Asuka paused and just stared at Samantha bare back for a moment. There wasn't anything especially unsettling about the scars, she had seen far worse in the days following Third Impact, but it still left a strong impression on the eternally fourteen year old girl.
Hesitantly Asuka extended one hand closer to Samantha, something in her wishing to touch something that had been hidden from her previously. She had no plan to put her whole hand anywhere near the demon-girl, that would be to much, but with her outreached limb she did manage to press one finger against Samantha's back, tracing her scars lightly in a probing manner.
She would withdraw her touch soon after, not wishing to overstay her welcome.]
[The small, gentle touch would give her the feel of the jagged scar tissue there and the bumps where the bones remained just below the skin. Samantha looked back at her, holding her dress half on her frame and smirked a little.]
Since when did you turn into a church mouse about touching me? I'm the one who's pinned you to the wall you're standing next to you, you know.
[Of course, that hadn't technically been a 'date,' and they hadn't gone into her home afterwards to show each other little secrets like this. She tied the dress top back in place hastily, waiting on the other girl.]
That's not the same thing at all! How can you even compare the two?
[Asuka shook her head, there was a world of difference in her mind between the current circumstances and that particular day.]
But I guess that means it is my turn now...
[Carefully Asuka reached behind her head and lifted the black patch from over her eye. Beneath lay an eye dull and grey in color and sitting unmoving in its socket in an almost creepy manner. On the surface was inscribed a faintly blue rune that almost seemed to glow in the right light.]
[Mostly because she didn't see nearly as much difference. When the eye was revealed, she didn't flinch, looking at it curiously. It wasn't as horrifying as she'd expected. Swallowing once, she imagined the gray spreading and the thought of the corruption was a worry.
Still, for now, it was... pretty.]
Can you see me through it? Do I look different at all?
