[Samantha first responded to that by trying to pull in close and curl her arms around Asuka. Her head would lean in close to the girl's throat, breathing in her scent as she spoke in a low voice that didn't carry far.]

I think I can manage that, and pretty much any other request you have, other than sleeping over. I'm half tempted to suggest you move in to my place, just because I hate Baldr watching us. It feels like he is here...

[Stupid sexy Samantha. By now Asuka had more or less gotten used to this sort of thing, but that didn't stop her from being rather demure about the whole situation. Letting her body go a little limp as Samanth grew closer.]

I really don't like the idea of someone watching us. Should we move somewhere else for now?

[samantha_grey]

[Her fingers twined around Asuka's waist, her lips leaning in close so she could whisper.]

If we hurry, we can beat the curfew and come to my place. I mean it, though... do you want to move in?

[She was quiet for a moment. This was a big decision. But really, what did she have to lose? It wasn't like she was very attached to this crappy apartment.

So why not?]

I wouldn't mind it. [She spoke quietly, exposing a bit of her soft side that was so often hidden beneath her rough exterior.] I'm not all fond of this place anyway.

[Samantha nodded once and brushed her lips against Asuka's ear before breathing out.]

Just grab enough for tonight. We can bring the rest of your stuff over tomorrow, Asuka. I'll... ummm, get keys made for you. [You could kind of tell that she'd never thought in terms like these or about doing this sort of thing.]

[From Asuka, a small kiss on Samantha's cheek. She couldn't always let the demon girl dominate these things, her pride wouldn't allow it.]

Let me go get a change of clothes and my hat and jacket. That should be enough for the night... I'll be back in a minute.

[she left the room and went to her closet. It didn't take long to rummage through the mostly empty storage space either. Asuka hadn't really bothered to purchese many outfits or things, she had always assumed that she could be spirited back home at any moment, and, as any long time military girl could tell you, it was best to travel light if possible.

She would return about five minutes later wearing her ever familiar hat and jacket, and bearing a change of clothes for the next day in her arms.]

I think that's good for now.

[Samantha had a minute to think about it while she was prepping and packing. This was an insane idea, honestly, but at the same time she didn't want to take it back. Part of her wanted to possessively drag her back, lock the door and keep her all to herself.

Deep down it was hard for her to deal with relationship issues. It really was. When she came up, ready to go, the cambion rose and nodded, giving her a grin.]

Say goodbye to Baldr. It's not a great apartment, but it's comfortable.

I won't miss the stupid place. Aside from a few little things, I've got nothing but bad memories here.

[There had been a few times she'd recall fondly even years from now. But, for the most part, Baldr house remained a place that had wrought nothing but terrible thoughts in the Eva pilot's head. The accursed place could burn to the ground for all Asuka cared.]

[Once they were on their way, Samantha nodded gravely.]

I was glad to leave Hel House when I did. I miss the table, but it was honestly an unpleasant place to live. I didn't trust half of the people there, so it doesn't surprise me that you'd feel the same. Baldr's... better? But not by much.

I'm used to living in close spaces with a lot of people that I already know. So I'm not a fan of cramming a bunch of strangers into a house and hoping that things work out.

And then there was that time that my whole arm scabbed over when I first got here...

It gets worst when a lot of them are narcissists like in Baldr or death obsessed like Hel. It's like asking for trouble. [She snorted.] Yeah, I remember that... sorry for not helping there at all. My powers were too haywire.

I know, right? I'm not perfect, but I'd like to think I'm better then all the weirdos they've got living over there.

[Asuka laughed. She really did think she was better then most of those people back in Beldr house.]

It's ok, you did your best. If I remember right I was a jerk to the first time we met to.

[She laughed at that, definitely finding it amusing.] You were about on par with my first day here. I threatened to kill most of the city at some point in the conversation. Of course, I also thought my dad had dragged me here, so it wasn't that surprising.

I don't think I threatened to kill anyone. I was more worried about being stuck all along in a strange place without my Eva or anything that I actually cared about.

[She did threaten to kill someone once here. But that was another story entirely.]

Since we're going to be living together, are there any rules I should know about?

[samantha_grey]

[Hmmm, rules... it wasn't like she'd ever actually lived with anyone other than when she was younger. Sam scratched at her head, considering that for a second.]

Always lock up when you leave, and when you're in. If you want to use the locks that don't unlock except from the inside, I'll knock three times then once. ...yeah, I'm pretty paranoid, I know. [There were a total of seven, after all, and the door and frame were reinforced.]

I've got a spare room I've been using like a library for notes. I think the big question is if you want to have your own room or ... well, you know, just stay in mine.

[They could cross the costs door in a minute.]

I understand. Back home I was on perpetual high alert. NERV could attack at any time, so I had to be ready to get up and get in my Eva at a moments notice.

[She sort of enjoyed not being perpetually woken up by attacking robots. But, at the same time, she missed being able to work out her frustrations on the battlefield as well.]

I wouldn't mind rooming together... I'm used to that sort of things from back home anyway. So why not?

[At least she understood. There were a lot of people who wouldn't understand that paranoia. The latter, though, made her laugh.] You know I only have one bed in my room, don't you? You're telling me you shared the covers back home?

[She gave her a slightly impish little smirk.]

Shared room it is anyway. As far as costs, we're getting our food from the supplies, so it's mostly just the spices and we can share those. Remind me, where are you working right now?

[It was, in truth, a non-issue since the school closed down but she didn't want Asuka to feel like she was mooching if the red-head wanted to pay her share.]

Grrr...of course not! There's no one on that ship I'd ever want to share a bed with.

[Asuka sighed. She really needed to stop walking directly into these situations.]

I've been working with the military lately. That's about it.

Knowing them, they probably do that on a volunteer basis. I still get a stipend from the shrines every month, so the rent's covered. You can think of it as your barracks, if you want. I'm not that fussed either way.

[Perks of running one of the only successful, ongoing drug stores in town.]

Figures that they wouldn't pay us. They want us to fight a war but don't want compensate us in anyway besides maybe going home if we don't all die.

[Asuka kicked at the ground as they went a long. This whole world was rather frustrating to her.]

I can still want to help. I can't cook or anything like that, but I can at least clean up once in awhile.

Yeah, that's pretty much how they are. The compensation is the free room and board in the house with the crazies. I'll do the cooking and you do the cleaning, and we can set up a board if there's any types of chores we really don't want to do?

...oh... and if you're getting a pet, no snakes. That's not negotiable.

That's fine by me. I just don't want to be a freeloader like I was when I was a kid.

[She blinked several times. What was that about?]

I don't plan on it. But what brought that up?

You're not a freeloader, Asuka. You're my girlfriend. But I understand not wanting that. You helping with the military, though, goes a long way.

[She sighed, shaking her head.]

Sorry, I hate snakes. Really really hate them. You don't really want to know why. Figured it'd be good to be clear.

You know, it's going to take me awhile to get used to you calling me that.

[She liked it, honestly. It made her feel warm and needed. But it was still a sensation very much foreign to Asuka.]

I wasn't plan on having any pets anyway, let alone a snake. I have enough on my hands taking care of myself.

I could call you lover if you wanted.

[She gave her a truly naughty grin as they turned the last corner. Yeah, she was trying to make her blush there, and she figured that'd be a good method to try.]
