Pasta maybe? It's been awhile since I've had any Italian food. For dessert, not sure either. I'll have to see the menu.
[It took Asuka a second to connect Samantha's look with the closed door. She was used to being the one waited on hand and foot, so this sort of thing was alien to her.
After a moment, she is able to put two and two together and props open the door, beckoning for her date to enter.]
[She grinned at her, sparing Asuka the second horrible innuendo-laced joke she could make about menus and desserts. This was a date, and smart dates didn't make bad jokes like that ... at least not constantly. Stepping in, she bobbed her head and let Asuka catch up.
Thankfully there wasn't a line before they were being led back. As she'd said, it was definitely on the intimate side.]
You're in luck. It's not really italian here, but it's what Asgard thinks is Italian. It tastes good either way.
[Asuka caught up quickly, very well knowing from hanging around Samantha for months on end the sort of dirty jokes that could be made of her previous comments.
That aside, The intimate setting, with all of it's darkness and cramped spaces, made Asuka a little nervous. It was beginning to dawn on her that there was more to this then hanging out and the occasional make out session. And it made her a little scared.]
Even if the food was bad, I'm sure it would still be nice to be able to have some time together like this. I was really worried about you when you were drunk off your ass yesterday.
[When she settled down into the chair, Samantha tried not to listen to that comment. She asked for water, not needing a drop of alcohol right now, and not needing the lecture that came with it. When the drinks were ordered and the waiter gone, she sighed a little.]
...you want to talk about that, don't you? I... kind of want this to be a happy night, but we can talk about it first, as long as we can talk about something else after.
[And, as if a reminder that this was definitely something different than the usual hanging out, her foot brushed very lightly against Asuka's.]
[Asuka sat down and ordered a soda before turning her gaze firmly to Samantha. She had only meant to bring up that she was happy to see Samantha feeling better after what must have been a horrible day for her, but if she wanted to talk, they could talk. Better to get all of this out in the open then let it fester like a puss-filled wound.]
Only if you want to. I only meant that it was good to see you feeling a little better after what happened yesterday.
[Asuka jumped a little as Samantha's foot brushed against her. In turn, Asuka clumsily attempted to do the same. It was a poor showing, and might have felt almost as if she had kicked Samantha likely, but she was trying.]
We should... but not tonight. Tonight's supposed to be happy. I'll talk to you about it later, ok?
[She was grateful for the out, even as her shin got kicked a little. That made her snicker slightly, and Asuka would get to feel a certain nimble appendage reaching for her ankle, trying to help guide it where Samantha wanted it to go while her foot played a little.
There was a little shuffle, though, and the red-head might hear a shoe being wormed off, one boot out of sight. It wasn't a boot touching at the top of her ankle, teasing a little under her slack cuff. Just toes and hosiery.]
Have I ever mentioned to you how much fun you are to tease?
[Asuka nodded. Samantha could take all the time she wanted. Whenever the demon girl was ready to talk, Asuka would be there to hear her out.
Asuka did her best to follow the lead that Samantha had left for her. It was not perfect, but at least a bit better then her previous effort that had seen the Eva pilot kicking her partner.
All of the touching and rubbing brought a bright glow to Asuka's face. A sure sign that Samantha was doing something right.]
I could tell. I can't even think of a single time we've been together that you didn't tease me even just a little.
[By the time the bread sticks were brought out along with their drinks, someone's slacks had climbed about three inches up her leg. Samantha wasn't going to be 'too' bold with it, but she wanted to make it clear that this was not just a playful gesture to torment.
Seeing her blush also helped a bit in taking her mind off the earlier topic they were skirting. She smiled smugly as she rested her chin on the back of her hand.]
Don't act like you don't enjoy the attention. If you hated it, you would have kicked me for real by now.
Well of course I like the attention. I wouldn't have stuck around as long as I have if I didn't.
[Asuka had always liked people who praised, built up, and otherwise fed her massive ego. Things were a little different between her and Samantha, but the basics remained the same.]
I'm going to have to keep giving you plenty of it then. Want to have a reason to keep you around. [She picked up a piece of the breadsticks and cracked it in half before placing an order.
There was vegetables, somewhere, in that order. Not much, and the words 'still mooing' came out of her mouth.]
[Asuka smiled back before ordering dinner for herself. As per their early conversation, the Eva pilot would be dining on something similar to but very unlike the fair that would be called Italian food back home.]
I do like the sound of. And I'd say the same, but I don't you require as much attention as I do.
[Mostly because Asuka didn't know of anyone who liked to be the center of attention more then she did.]
[And Samantha, for all that she stuck her neck out, preferred not to be the center of most peoples' attention. It caused uncomfortable scrutiny at times. She was just too impatient a lot of days to leave the work to other people.]
I can demand my share when I want it, you know. [A press from her to to the inside of the girl's calf.] But I think you're the more demanding in this little relationship.
Well yeah, it comes with the territory. But I made that pretty clear when we first met.
[A bit of self-depreciation on Asuka's part, but that was just the way she had turned out after a life in isolation spent wishing for the adulation of others, but not their company.]
But maybe if things go well tonight, I'll finally show you what's under my eyepatch.
[She laughed as if in jest. But, in reality, the number of people who had seen what lay beneath that black fabric could be counted on one hand, so it was something of a big deal to Asuka.]
[She smirked at her, trying to put on a smirk that would make her blush more. The eyepatch, naturally, was something that she knew was important, very important. Admittedly... she wanted under more than just that.]
I'm going to have to try real hard either way. I've always been a little curious.
[Right into it.] You show me your eye and I'll show you the scars on my back and tell you how I got them. It's not as ... horrible as you'd think, but it's still not a pleasant topic.
[Asuka seemed a bit surprised that Samantha trusted her enough to show off her scar, but it was a good feeling. For after nearly six months of vague and quiet back and forth it was nice to know that there was now some real trust between the two of them.
That and she was hungry, enough so that Samantha could most likely hear Asuka's stomach rumbling beneath the table.]
[Asuka squirmed a little at the touch of Samantha's feet against her bare skin, but that could only last so long, as her hunger so overrode any discomfort that stimulation provided her.]
Oh good, I'm starving. It's been forever since I've had a decent meal.
[The plates were set before them as she slipped her foot away and looked down at it all. It was definitely one big slab of red meat in front of her, with only the minimal trimmings. She sniffed and reached for the steak sauce, adding an inappropriate amount and nodding in thanks to the server.]
Pretty hungry too. I get enough meat, but it never hurts to have a good steak.
[With a large plate of something resembling pasta covered in red sauce now set in front of her, Asuka politely nodded to their server and took a small bite of the concoction before smiling briefly.
Good food had been something of a rarity for Asuka since she had come to Asgard, so anything more then the provisions she kept in her apartment was something of a treat.]
This is actually really good! I wasn't sure what to expect when you first mentioned this play to me. But they actually managed to make something that almost tastes like the food I'd get back home.
[She'd say more, something about that massive steak or the copious amount of sauce Samantha had slathered on it. But Asuka had been around Samantha long enough to know that it would just lead to some comparison between her and the steak.]
You know... [Asuka took another bite before continuing.] I don't think I ever ate out like this back home. If I ever did go out it was always some kind of work thing and that meant dragging along that brat and Ayanami. It was so annoying eating out with those two! One of them was to shy to even talk over dinner, and the Ayanami always made a big stink about where we went because little miss perfect couldn't eat meat.
[She chewed easily enough, laughing some at the comments and nodding.] I'm sorry, but I can't imagine him on a date like this. He'd be fumbling around or making a total ass out of himself more than either of us or both combined.
And trust me, you'll never see me pretend to be a vegetarian. I couldn't actually live that way. Why was she like that?
I don't know, really. We were never really good friends or anything like that so I never bothered to ask. It might have something to do with the fact that she's a clone or something like that.
[Asuka took another bite, she was surprisingly casual despite the odd nature of what they were discussing.]
A... clone? [That word seemed to set her off a little, frowning in reaction to that. She had a little experience with genetic manipulation and cloning techniques.]
You know, every once in a while, it's just the casual way you drop little bombshells like that that reminds me your world's as messed up as it is. You're... a resilient girl.
Yeah, I don't know all the details but there was supposedly a bunch of her at one point.
[Her whole live had been made up of secrets, half-truths, and conspiracies, it was only natural that this sort of thing would come as relatively normal.]
I've survived the end of the world, of course I'm tough.
