Thanks, I generally like to think that I'm a fairly attractive person. But also think that whoever designed the plugsuits had to be some kind of pervert, I mean who else would come up like a design like that?
[Asuka laughs lightly, she was beginning to loosen up a little bit.]
It figures I'd be drafted into another war. [She sighs.] Sometimes it even feels like that is all I was born to do.
Heh, you are pretty damned good looking, eyepatch and all. [She leaned forward very slightly, motioning the server over. She'd let Asuka order whatever, but Vodka and club soda was her choice for tonight.] But you're right. That thing... what kind of person designs something like that for a pilot's suit?
[The next comment just got a laugh out of her, followed by a sad shake of her head.] And you and me both. You came from a war? Me, I came from playing vigilante for who knows how long against costumed freaks. Really doesn't feel that different here.
If I didn't know any better, I'd think that you were hitting on me. [She laughs a small fit once more before turning to the server and ordering something with a rather large amount of fruit in it.] I really don't know though, it was probably someone in the science or engineering department who got off on staring at teenagers in insanely tight clothing.
As for me, I've been a pilot since I was fourteen. First the fight was against these huge alien monsters we called "Angels" but one day some idiot managed to pretty much cause the end of the world, so now me and a bunch of other people are fighting some other idiots who are pretty keen on repeating that same event all over again.
Maybe I am a little. [She wasn't trying too hard just yet, but Asuka had given her a perfectly good opportunity, so she could at least get a feel for if there was any room to try.] And believe me. I've seen the world almost end so many times that...
Wait... aliens named ... [She rubbed her head.] Do you know a guy named Kaworu and a kid named Shinji?
[Yeah, Samantha wasn't really that good at this, so sometimes, she preferred direct. She chuckled at that response and shrugged.] First time for everything, I guess? Don't read too much into it.
[The glass came down in front of her and she sipped.]
I've talked a lot with Kaworu. I have an... idea about what you're talking about. It was pretty fucked up, honestly. Makes my crap look pretty normal. Take the vacation saving your world and save this one. I think it might actually be better here.
I'll admit my world kind of sucks, and there probably isn't anyway to fix it either. But I'll still keep on fighting to make sure things don't get any worse then they already are, and I'll probably do the same thing here.
[She takes a long drink before managing to sweep away all the talk of war and other unpleasant things.]
But hey, let's forget about all that stuff and just have fun for awhile.
Agreed. [She smirked at her at that. They'd said enough on that subject anyway.] So, alright then, I'll save asking you about the eyepatch for another day. What do you do for fun, when you're not saving the world?

There really isn't a lot to do when I'm not out on a mission. I tend to just sit around, play cards on occasion, and sometimes I hang out with another pilot in my group named Mari. She's sort of a weirdo, and even calls me Princess constantly, though. So I avoid hanging around her to often.
I'll probably do that. Maybe tell you how I lost my wings same day, heh.
[She laughed sadly.]
God, you must have been getting kind of lonely. No wonder Shinji always seems like a bit of a closet case, if you really don't have that many people to hang out with. Well, alright then. I guess I must have a habit of attracting people who don't get out enough.
Shinji was always been sort of a dork, he wasn't good with people and had trouble expressing himself.
[Much like Asuka herself, but she wasn't going to ever admit that.]
In my case it's less I need to get out and more that most of the human race is dead and buried where I'm from. There's just not a lot of people left to talk to.
That's putting it mildly. He makes Kaworu look easy to deal with sometimes. We don't talk much, honestly.

Honestly, I sometimes wonder if my world's going to end up going the same way. There's people there who seem hell bent on wrecking the joint over and over again. It gets old kicking asses and protecting people from themselves.

I know the feeling. [She sighs]. I don't understand the mentality of people who want to destroy everything. They must be mentally defective or something.
[She snorted.] The ones I actually bothered to speak to were either really greedy or hell bent on saying 'this is mine, not yours.' A few of the ones I saw were just sick in the head, I think.
So, how's the pay in saving the world in your place? Shitty as mine?
Non-existent, not that there is a lot to left to buy or anything like that. But I have a place to live, food to eat, and clothes to wear, so I really can't complain to much.
You know. [sip] I think that's just how it works with saving the world. The best you're likely to get is a roof over your head, a pat on the back and a 'job well done.' It's not something you get rich doing.
But who really knows, But I'd still like to have a plan just in case the war back home actually does end. Maybe I'll write down all the crazy stuff that happened to me or something.
Yeah, well... I can't, so I don't suppose it would work for me either. [She snickered] Memoires though? Sure, I suppose that wouldn't be so bad. I'll probably spare the world my life's story. It gets kind of messy at points.
Here, though, I'm hoping we'll actually manage to get at least a little down time after it's done.
Well, you can at least get some rest here between the fights. It's actually pretty quiet from time to time. [She shrugged.] And I'm guessing there's a lot more people here than you're used to being around.
Yeah, I haven't seen this many people together in one place in over a decade. In a lot of ways it's nice, but it is going to take some getting used to.
